Finished top - Mexican Stars

I have been hunkered down doing the hand work on this quilt top for the past couple of days.  I finished it last night and put it up on the design wall to admire.  When I decided to do the curves by hand instead of machine, I didn't realize how long it was going to take, but it was worth it.  Now I have to decide how to quilt it.

Detail of center area.
I chose to do this in the earthy palette I like so well.  It would be interesting to do this again in brights just to see the difference.  Working with this pattern has convinced me to try more patterns if I find them as interesting as this one.
I have a question for you all.  I would love to know what you look for in a quilting blog that makes you want to visit again.  Thank you for taking a few minutes to share your thoughts.
Joyful quilting, everyone.

Just beautiful. I love visiting blogs that show 'in progress' photos, mix of self, mix of any classes experienced, maybe a tool or a new fabric tried - variety. And yes, finishes are always lovely.

I like to revisit blogs that show photos of what they are working on, and that they are working on things that interest me. Like this quilt, I love quilts with stars in them, period!

Your Mexican Star is stunning. What makes me keep reading blogs is seeing what someone is working on, tutorials, QAL, new gadgets. Mostly inspiration.

As always, I'm amazed at the speed at which you work to produce your lovely quilts. This is a very interesting design and I like the way the blocks interact and also I like the colours you have chosen. What keeps me visiting a quilt blog? - I wouldn't visit a blog which only did traditional designs, I like blogs which have the blogger's original designs, I like a little bit of personal life occasionally, I like to think the blogger is happy and there has to be pretty pictures. I think your blog has an excellent balance and I'll keep visiting it!

I love seeing what my fellow quilters are working on and especially when they share their ingenuity. Free motion quilting ideas always catch my attention. Discussions of the process, interesting layouts for blocks, color/fabric combinations too invite me to stay awhile and read.

I've made several Southwind designs quilts, but not the Mexican Star and never hand stitched down the folded bias edges. Yours is beautiful!

I enjoy the variety of ideas, colors, and keeping up with my favorite blogger's creative life. I like the links to other sites and the occasional lessons. Your pictures are wonderful and fun to follow. Joyful quilting Miki!

Beautiful Mexican Stars quilt!

Prefer blogs that show detailed process & not just progress. Prefer blogs that seem like creative notebooks of the blog author. Prefer blogs without ads, give-aways & growing-your-business tactics.

This is such a fun quilt. I love the color palette that you've chosen. I did one in oriental fabrics and it was a fun one. Can't wait to see how you quilt yours.

Pretty! I love the way the pieces look curved.

I tend to come back to blogs where the quilter is up to something interesting. If it's a really fantastic project, I'll keep watching for updates even if they're not very frequent.

Beautiful! Great colors. It would look fun in brights, too. I like a mixture of things on a blog. Showing progress, not just finishes. Knowing others are having problems, just like I do.

Wow, that is beautiful, Miki!! I love your color choices... Whoop whoop!!

And I look for inspiration in a blog - but I come back over and over when the blogger is friendly and communicative in their response to comments - just like you!!
